The court may (or may not) deem alimony appropriate and will consider (among other items) the following before rendering judgment:
- Grounds of the divorce
- The length of the marriage
- Debt distribution
- The age of each party and ability to provide for themselves
- Employment history and future earning potential
- Property disbursement
- Standards of living achieved during the marriage
- Marital misconduct
- Child custody
- Special medical or mental health needs/disabilities
- Prior support obligations from a previous marriage
