A Profile of Leadership, Legal Advocacy and Commitment of Service
Mr. Barker and his wife, Dr. Lorna Barker, live in Mount Pleasant. They are working to usher their four children into adulthood. The Barkers are active members of Christ Church Mount Pleasant where Mr. Barker serves as the Senior Warden of the Vestry, sings in the choir, and is the drummer for the contemporary praise band.
Born in Virginia, Mr. Barker graduated from Virginia Tech as did his four siblings. After graduation, he accepted a commission in the United States Navy and was stationed aboard a warship in Charleston. He attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander before answering a calling into the legal profession.
Mr. Barker graduated cum laude from Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, California. He practiced in Los Angeles, California before returning to Charleston to raise his family and practice law.
Daryn R. Barker is named for her Uncle Darren, a creative liberty for a female that saw her listed as “male” on every school year’s initial roll. (Thanks, Dad.)She has three younger siblings, each of whom is her favorite on occasion
Daryn graduated from Wando High School in Mount Pleasant, and earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of South Carolina. After college, she worked with foster children at Epworth Children’s Home in Columbia, South Carolina before returning to school to pursue her Juris Doctor.
Daryn lives in Mount Pleasant, where she is active at Christ Church. In her spare time, she is learning to cook, one recipe at a time. She enjoys reading, working out, spoiling her golden retriever and cat, and spending quality time with her family and friends.
